Our on-line coach training by Zoom webinar is a highly efficient approach for organisations during the Covid-19 lockdown, or where the managers to be trained are based in different locations. As an ILM centre for coaching, we can deliver all our courses, including ILM awards, through virtual training by Zoom or through any other preferred digital platform.
On-line courses have advantages over face-to-face training because:
- there are more opportunities to practise and come back to a training session for review;
- each topic is thoroughly embedded through demonstrations and practice before moving on to the next;
- the cost savings can be significant, eliminating the need for venue, refreshments, printed materials, and travel/hotel costs;
- the schedules take smaller chunks out of time out of the working day so that participants are able to keep up with their day-to-day work commitments.
Virtual coach training can be delivered in any on-line training format including solely by conference calls. All of the courses described on this website can be delivered on-line in this way. The ILM qualifications can be awarded where applicable.
The distance coach training sessions are highly interactive and consist of trainer demonstrations, discussions and participant practice. The Zoom platform allows for breakout groups in pairs and trios, just like our face-to-face training, and the trainer can visit each virtual room to provide one-to-one feedback. This variety mitigates the fatigue that tends to happen during video meetings, making all-day sessions a positive experience. The approach is very much a group coaching method, which engages and inspires participants to think for themselves and make the learning their own.

ILM Virtual Coach Training for Managers
The face to face version of this course comprises five days over three to six months, including assessment and ILM centre accreditation. The on-line version can be anything from two-hour sessions once a fortnight to all-day sessions on consecutive days (two three-hour sessions per day), or any combination. In between each session, participants are paired to practise the skills in order to embed them. This practice can be undertaken either face-to-face, through visual digital media, or entirely by telephone.
A blended learning approach can be applied, where participants attend some sessions face-to-face, and others by webinar.
On-line Coaching and Mentoring Workshops
Our coaching and mentoring workshops are practical events which can last anything from one hour to three days. Whatever the length, participants will always take away at least one useful coaching technique which they can put into place in their own working environment immediately. During the Covid-19 lockdown, some workers are facing mental health crises in terms of extreme pressure and emotional stress on the front line, such as social care workers and medical staff, while others suffer anxiety while furloughed or working from home. Our Covid-19 Resilience Workshops are aimed at promoting mental health and well-being through facilitated discussion and coaching, as well as providing some ‘silver bullets’ in terms of practical skills for carers, medical staff, or those dealing with conflict or feelings of isolation in their virtual workplace.

Our MHFA training is delivered by Nadine Robson, an instructor member for MHFA England, who is approved to deliver Adult MHFA courses. The Mental Health First Aid courses carry a certificate of attendance, and manuals are provided by MHFA England.
